When you eat acidic foods the pH level in your mouth lowers. This can create a hostile, enamel-eroding environment for your teeth. If you do end up with some sour patch kids as a late night snack, we recommend that you swish your mouth with water right away. By coating your teeth with neutral water and washing away the extra acid, you can help minimize the negative effects. Despite what you might think, it’s actually better to wait about an hour before brushing your teeth after eating very acidic foods.
